It was time to see how the Evolve Bamboo GT electric longboard would perform. The sun was just rising, casting light on the surrounding barren mountains of northwestern Utah. The views from the flats were a great backdrop for filming. Not all cars would perform well on the moist terrain, but a trusty Honda Element did a good job of getting the team and the equipment to the middle of the salt pan. ![]() With so much flat area, the Bonneville Salt Flats is the perfect place to test a new longboard, had it not been for all the salt. It’s there where some mind-boggling speed records of over six hundred miles per hour were broken in the previous century. Part of the area dubbed the “ Bonneville Speedway” is marked out for motor sports. The Salt Flats are open to public and famous for the many land speed records established there. A remnant of a great prehistoric lake, it’s the largest of the many salt plains west of the Great Salt Lake. The Bonneville Salt Flats is basically just that, an area of almost perfectly flat, tightly packed salt. Still, it’s a hell of a lot of fun to do. You definitely shouldn’t drive it around Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah, since they’re made up primarily of salt and water. ![]() You should protect it from corrosive and rust-inducing substances, like salt. You should keep it away from water and moisture. There are some things you just don’t do to a freshly bought electric longboard with a retail price of about two thousand dollars.
